Milestones

As a file passes through the VAN there are some major stopping points which are always listed in the grid called Interchange Milestones. Each Milestone can include 0, 1, or more events. A Milestone has not been reached if no events are displayed. In the above example, every Milestone was reached.

(1) Row Expander.. every row has a [+] button to expand and display a the list of events (if any). The header level button toggles the current expanded state of all rows.

(2) Interchange Milestones... The major stopping points of a file as it makes its way through the VAN.

  • OUTBOX - The file was accepted by the VAN.
  • [ TRANSLATION ] - This Milestone is only present if the file being tracked passed through the translator.
  • OUTBOX_ARCHIVE - The file was either manually archived or was successfully transmitted to the Trading Partner's INBOX.
  • INBOX - The file reach the trading partner INBOX.
  • INBOX_ARCHIVE - The file was either manually archived or was successfully delivered to the Trading Partner. *Note* if the TP uses AS2 for VAN communication, this Milestone does not guarantee that the TP received the file. It only guarantees that the file reached our AS2 software.
  • OUTBOX_TRASH - The file was either manually deleted or was automatically moved to trash from the archive.
  • INBOX_TRASH - The file was either manually deleted or was automatically moved to trash from the archive.

(3) Status.. Displays the event count of the currently selected Milestone. In this example the INBOX Milestone is selected and contains 2 events.

Tracking Errors

When an error event occurs the parent Milestone will be highlighted in red as depicted in the above image. In this example the file has reached the outbox but when the VAN attempted to deliver the file to an invalid trading partner, an error occurred. Also notice that the INBOX Milestone has a count of 0 events, indicating that the Trading Partner never received the file.
